Part of the purpose of the McGinnis family’s trip to Chile is to deliver supplies.
The towns around the epicenter of the 8.8 Chilean earthquake have been devastated. People are in desperate need of basic necessities including food, water, clothing, and shelter.
The earthquake struck during the country’s summer season so, thankfully, Chileans are not also having to deal with the cold temperatures and heavy dampness that come with Chile’s winter, rainy season. That time of year, however, is quickly coming upon them!
In the towns affected by the earthquake, the beginning of the Chilean school year has been postponed from the beginning of March until April. As stated above, many families lost everything and there is an immediate need for school supplies for the children.
